Origin: 
The Taita cattle, along with the Giriama, Durum and Kamba, are generally referred to as Lowland Zebu, and they inhabit the coastal south of Kenya. As for other Kenyan Zebu breeds, they are believed to have descended from recent introductions of zebu by the Nilo-Hamitic tribes that migrated during the 17th century into Kenya from the north (Rege and Tawah, 1999).
